Mr. James Monroe Shumpert Sims, Jr.

Memorial Services for James Monroe Shumpert Sims, Jr. will be held Saturday, April 30, 2022 at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Meridian, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Eugene M. Boger, officiating. Visitation with the family will be one hour before the service, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. James Sims, Jr. was born April 5, 1943 to the late James Monroe Shumpert Sims, Sr. and Agnes Kennedy Sims in Meridian, MS and transitioned on Wednesday, April 20, at 5:30 a.m. at his home with his devoted wife by his side. James received his education in the Meridian Public School District and was a graduate of T.J. Harris High School where he was an outstanding football player. In 1965, on April 18, after dating three years, he married the love of his life, Georgia Mae Bonner, this year celebrating sixty (60) years of being together. To this union, two girls were born, Eris and Jamese. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church where he served as Trustee Chairman, as a member of the United Methodist Men, Administrative Council, and Finance Committee. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made with a donation to the United Methodist Men of St. Paul United Methodist Church in memory of James Sims, Jr. Please send to P.O.
