Mrs. Johnnie Mae Jenkins was born in Meridian, MS on July 18 to the late John L. Irby and the late Jesse Mae Sears. She departed this life on Tuesday, October 2, 2018. Johnnie Mae received her early education at St. Joseph Catholic School in Meridian, MS. Upon completing her education from St. Joseph, she attended Meridian Junior College where she obtained her Associates Degree in Electronics. She later attended Mississippi State University in Starkville, MS where she received her Master's Degree in Human Resources. She was a dedicated employee of Peavey Electronics for 32 years. Johnnie Mae loved singing in the choir. She had the most beautiful angelic voice. She was also a very dedicated church member. She was an advocate for health and wellness and she served as an Exercise Instructor for two (2) Community Centers until her passing. She had a passion for working with special needs children, the elderly and stroke victims. Johnnie Mae was preceded in death by her parents, John L. Irby and Jesse Mae Sears; spouse Alfornia Jenkins and one (1) brother: John L. Irby. Johnnie Mae will be eternally remembered by her eldest son, Billy Joe Jenkins (Helen) and son, Benny Ray Jenkins; grandchildren, nephew Rodriguez and her exteded family and bosom friends of whom will all miss her dearly.
