Mrs. Rosie L. Stokes

April 23, 1924 - November 11, 2012

Rosie Lee Stokes was born April 23, 1924 to the late Elijah Moody and Celia Moody in the DeSoto community. She departed this life on November 11, 2012. At an early age she joined Springhill Baptist Church of DeSoto, MS. After marriage and moving to Laurel, MS, she later moved her membership to Friendship Baptist Church of Laurel, MS. Rosie served on several church communities and was a lead singer in the choir until her health failed. Her willingness to help others and her loving smile made her a well-known citizen throughout her community. Rosie Stokes was united in Holy matrimony to the late Sidney Stokes of Laurel, MS. she is also preceded in death by her brother, Robert Sumrall, Sr., her sister-in-law, Zipora Sumrall, her son, Willie B. Stokes, and her sister, Burnell Newell. Rosie leaves to cherish her memories: two sisters: Mary Helen Henderson of Laurel, MS; Eartha Watson (P.W. Watson) of Hattiesburg, MS; a special great-niece Patricia Davis (Jerry Davis, Jr.) of Waynesboro, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, grandchildren, cousins and friends.
