Mr. Albert Tingle, Sr.'s Obituary
Albert Tingle, Sr. was born September 3, 1937 in Kewanee, MS to James Percy Tingle and Jessie Mae Reed one of six children of that union. Albert Sr. joined Green Hill Baptist Church at an early age and was called home to the Lord March 11, 2017 at 9:37 am. Albert Sr. united into Holy Matrimony with Johnnie Lucille Powell in 1959. To that union three children were born, Gregory Van (Letasha), Albert Jr., and Sheri Ann. The family resided in Meridian, MS and later moved to Chicago, IL in 1967. Albert Sr. managed a parking garage in Chicago, IL for more than 20 years. After raising his children Albert Sr. returned to Meridian, MS in 1986. Albert Sr. worked for the Head Start Program in Meridian, MS until retiring from full-time employment. Albert immediately returned to the workforce part-time as a school bus driver with the Meridian Public School System and retired October 2016. Albert Sr.'s passion was playing the piano and gospel music. As a lead singer of the gospel group "The Soulful Travelers", the group recorded and released eight gospel songs including "If I Could hear. My Mother Pray Again". Albert Sr. also worked at the radio station 1290 WNBN as a formal radio announcer and entertainer. Albert Sr. 's parents, five brothers (J.T. Tingle, Robert Tingle, Johnny L. Crump, James P. Tingle, and William Ford, Jr., two sisters (Clemmie E. Williams and Annie Mae Morgan), and two brothers-in-law (Willie Currie and Ernest Williams Sr.) and preceded him in death. Albert Sr. leaves to cherish: Two sons ( Gregory Van (Letasha) of Chicago IL and Albert Tingle Jr. of Chicago IL), three daughters (Lola Yates of Chicago IL, Cynthia · Baskin of California, and Sheri Ann Tingle of Indianapolis IN), one sister Willie Mae Curry of Meridian MS, one brother Walter L. Crump both of Meridian, MS, two sisters-in-law (Nellie Ford of Panama City FL and Lillie Tingle of Cincinnati OH) seven grandchildren (Gregory Valentino Riley of Washington DC, Duquan Baskin of Newark New Jersey, Rynicka Hawkins of Chicago, IL, Moni Lumpkin (Tyrone) of Crown Point IN, Ronald Bouyer of Chicago IL, and Portia Jones of Chicago IL, and Jessica Congress of Chicago IL) Partner and Caretaker Mary Miller of Meridian, MS., and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
