Pastor Alee G. Hopson's Obituary
Pastor Alee Hopson, born September 12, 1929 was the second of six children born to the late John Paul and Eliza Gulley in Kemper County.
She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior in the year 1953. she united in the fellowship with the Tomola church of God and worked tirelessly, throughout her life, often saying “may the work I’ve done speak for me.” God called her to the ministry to spread the Gospel of the Good News of Jesus. She was ordained into the ministry on March 28, 1976. She traveled over the states of Mississippi, Florida, Missouri and Illinois preaching the gospel.
Pastor Alee served and pastored four churches in the Clarke county area: First Church of God (Quitman, MS), Elwood Church of God (Elwood, MS), Pachuta Church of God (Pachuta, MS) and Hayes Chapel Church of God (Pauling, MS) until her recent retirement. She is well-known and respected throughout the church world and community. She never forgot her upbringing and when possible she worshipped at her home church (Tomola Church of God).
On August 25, 1943, she married the late Mr. Willie Albert Hopson. To the union, 18 children were born. She is preceded in death by her husband (Willie), one son (Robert), four daughters (Eliza, Loretta, Joyce and Barbara), one sister (Dollie Mae Wilkins) and two brothers (Earlie B. Gulley and Joh Garvey Gulley).
Pastor Alee leaves to cherish her memories: two sisters, Eva Mobley of Brookhaven, MS and Orsenia Brown of Meridian, MS; her children, Rosie Mosley of Chicago, IL; Susie (Jimmy) Moore of Dalton, IL; Eula (Albert) Guess of Freeport, IL; Howard (Shirley) Hopson, Catherine Hopson and Mildred Patrick all of Lauderdale, MS; Herbert Hopson of Columbus, OH; Johnny R. (Tamara) Hopson of Meridian, MS; Joseph (Valorie) Hopson of Milford, KS; Maxine (Tymothy) Terrell of Meridian, MS and great-grandchildren, 15 great-great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Ceasarene Gulley and Hattie Gulley and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, friends and acquaintances.
