Alice worked for Lauderdale County School District for nearly twenty years as a custodian, retiring in July 2019. Her many accomplishments included building and completing her own home from ground up in 1992, raising her children into adulthood, she assisted in many community projects and had a major hand in the upbringing of all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Each year, Alice had a Sandflat block party that brought the community together. This event was a great turnout. Her two closing statements for each event "If ya car in the road, you gettin' towed" and "You ain't got to go home, but you got to get the ---away from here." Alice was the oldest of nine siblings. The community loved her witty personality and her "keep it real" attitude. She was a very outspoken person who didn't mind telling you how she felt. This was a characteristic she passed down to her children and grandchildren. The song do-di-doe will forever be a memory all her grandchildren and great grandchildren will remember.
