Mrs. Allean Sherman Brown's Obituary
Allean Sherman Brown was born April 22, 1923 in York, Alabama. She was raised by the late Rev. Castor & Lula Sherman of Meridian, MS. Her earthly journey ended on May 7, 2019 at Jeff Anderson Hospital. Allean grew up in Meridian, Mississippi and met and gained many friends here during her lifetime. She loved being in the company of God's people and serving her fellowman. She was active in the Royal Aces and Modernetts Savings Club, but she found her greatest joy serving in the house of the Lord. She accepted Christ as her Savior early in life and united with Saint John Missionary Baptist Church, where she remained a faithful and dedicated member until her health would no longer allow her to attend. She served in the Ushers' Ministry, the Mission Ministry, the Kitchen Ministry, the Music Ministry, and the One o'clock Prayer/Bible Study Group. She was devoted to the Ushers' Ministry where she served many years as secretary of the senior ushers and leader of the Youth Ushers' Ministry. One of her proudest moments during her tenure with the Ushers' Ministry was being chosen to lead the youth ministry. Dedication, diligence and selflessness were qualities she possessed and were shown wherever she served. Allean was united in holy matrimony to John Brown who preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by a sister, Carrie Cohen; a daughter, Katie L. Washington; two sons, Joe A Sherman and Larry D. Sherman; a granddaughter, Michelle Herlong; and a grandson, Deon L. Herlong. Allean leaves to cherish her memory a loving and devoted daughter, Gracie (Sylvester) Herlong of Lauderdale, MS; a loving daughter-in-law, Jean Sherman of Meridian, MS; four grandsons, William Isaac Sherman of Jacksonville, FL, Sylvester (Vickie) Herlong, Jr., Timothy C. Herlong, and Leon D. Herlong Sr. of Meridian, MS; four granddaughters; Maretta Hudson of Philadelphia, MS, Latrina Sherman of Randallstown, MD, Joanna Hill and Valerie Sherman of Meridian, MS; eight great-grandchildren, Shekeida Sherman and Isaac Dequan Blake of Jacksonville, FL, Natalie Herlong, Leon Herlong Jr., Elijah Herlong, JaMarcus Bell, JaMarlon Bell and Joseph Davidson of Meridian, MS; four great-great grandchildren; and a multitude of friends and church family members, especially Mary Greer of Detroit, Ml, Jimmy Whitehead of Meridian, MS and the Bell family of Dallas, TX.
