Mrs. Almedia Barnett Lewis-Davillier's Obituary
Almedia Amelia Barnett Lewis-Davillier was Born August 17,1938 to Lillie L. B. Barnett & Booker T.W. Barnett in Barnett, MS. She was also affectionately known as AL, Big AL, Momma AL, Big/Lil MeMe (Mimi), Medda, Momma Medda, Meallie, Grammaw and Bammaw . Medda was the third child of four. In August of 1946, at the age of 8 she joined church, gave her life to Jesus and was then baptized .. She Departed this life on September 18, 2019 at the home of her son Gene in Jonesboro, Georgia. Her Children were her pride and Joy. She was a great mother that raised strong loving and kind hearted children just like her parents who came before her did for her and her siblings. Al had an attitude of Gratitude, a spirit of humility, a mind set to help those in need, and a heart of gold. She brought people into her home when they needed her most like, her mom, Grandma Lillie, and brothers Joe & Rob. Momma Al was extremely free hearted, no one ever left her home empty handed. If she wasn't giving you food, she was giving you something that she sewed for you. She had the best sense of humor and a laugh that could be heard from the back of the house, in her sewing room, to the front. Bammaw often joked with her grandkids, like frequently telling Patrick's oldest child, Mimi, her first born grannie, "No you are not Mimi ... I am Mimi! "then she'd giggle, since they shared one of her nicknames. She loved sharing good jokes with her friends too and having family gatherings as they would laugh, clown around and joke about all the good times and adventures they had growing up. Big Al was an extremely talented Seamstress, one of the best around. She said her older brother Robert taught her to sew and she just loved it. She didn't need a store-bought pattern, you described what you envisioned and she made it happen. She made everything from choir robes to wedding dresses like the one she did for her son Gene's wife, Cynthia. She made and embroidered personalized items with her grand children's names on them, bow ties and beautiful dresses for her granddaughters. She also upholstered furniture and even car seats. The Lord was in Almedia's heart and she took Him with her wherever she went, in her walk, her talk and her actions. We take comfort that she is resting with Him now in his loving arms. She was preceded in death by her first husband Fredrick Lewis, her second husband Robert Davillier, her oldest brother Robert L. Barnett and . her baby brother James (Joe) W. Barnett.
