Mr. Amos Alton Ratcliff, Sr.'s Obituary
Amos Alton Ratcliff, Sr., was born on June 8, 1938 to the late Jim Ratcliff and Mittie Graham Ratcliff. Amos was educated in the Quitman Public School System. At an early age, he accepted Christ into his life. Later in life, he untied with Fifth Street Baptist Church. Amos was employed with Anderson Hospital for 25 years until his retirement. He also cared for patients in private homes. Amos enlisted in the United States Army where he served in Active Duty for 2 years and in the Army Reserve for 6 years. Amos united in holy matrimony to the late Geraldine Ratcliff, to this union six children were born. Later in life, he united with the late Lucille Ratcliff, and to this union one child was born. Amos was a proud father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He often spoke to his grandchildren about the importance of receiving an education. He was a fun, loving man who always greeted everyone with a smile. He was a hard worker who would give anything he had. He leaves to forever, cherish his loving memory his children: Amos Ratcliff, Jr., Michael Ratcliff (Dorothy), Kenneth Ratcliff (Yolanda), Alicia Smoot (Malcolm), Rhonda Brooks (Douglas), Altonio Ratcliff (Jacquelyn); three stepchildren: Tammy Nickles (David), Algene Osby, and Vonda Osby (Albert); one brother: Howard Ratcliff (Maxine); twenty (20) grandchildren, thirty (30) great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, one son: William Ratcliff, two sisters: Hazel Patton and Gladys Dunlap; maternal grandparents: Maggie Graham and Charles Graham; paternal grandparents: Mariah Ratcliff and George Ratcliff.
