Mr. Andrew Lee's Obituary
Andrew Lee was born on May 8, 1954, to the Late Alphonso "Allen" Tyler and the Late Ethel Mae Lee, in York, Alabama. After committing his life to Christ, he was a member of First Baptist Church in York. He is a proud member of the Sumter County High School Class of 1974. While in high school he was a basketball superstar, referred to as "One cold basketball player." He had a love of music as some of his favorite groups include The Temptations, The Commodores and Frankie Beverly and Maze. He would often sing along as if he was a member of the band. Andrew loved food. You could always catch him eating a piece of fruit or a salad. Road trips were high on his list of favorite things to do, which would occasionally lead him to the casino. His life's journey led him to live in several places, but he settled in Meridian, Mississippi. He moved his church affiliation to St. Matthew Baptist Church. He worked for Cardinal Health for 14 years before retiring.
Andrew loved his family, who cared for him until the very end. He leaves to cherish his loving memory, Irma Lee, who he called "the love of his life." Four children: Teri (Burrell) Jones, Lithonia, GA, Andrea (Michael) Wynne, Jamarcus Grace, and Aaliyah Lee. Stepchildren Tonia Lee, Shareese Rainer, and Erica Lee (and their children who he considered his own grandchildren). Two who were a part of his life's journey: Cassandra Davis and Dorian Thompson who he had a relationship with until his passing. Five siblings of whom he was the eldest: Roosevelt (Dorothy) Lee, Doris Lee, both of York, AL. Edith Scott, VeRonica Portis, and Twanda (Bryian) Bell, all of Pensacola, FL. Two grandsons by his daughter Andrea: Austin and Corey Wynne. A host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends he considered family.
On April 5, 2024, Andrew heard the Lord call his name and he gracefully answered. Rest well our dear Drew. You will be missed tremendously but we know you are in a much better place. Until we meet again.
