Mrs. Anna Mae Barnett's Obituary
Anna Mae Barnett “Baby Sister”, “Ba”, “MommaAnna”, as she was affectionately called was born on February 22, 1939. A sassy, spunky, and softhearted girl born to the late Bertie Williams and Anna Mae Sanders. God in his infinite wisdom gifted Anna with 82 years of life and blessed 59 of them to be spent in Holy Matrimony to her loving husband, Buford Barnett.
She was an amazing mother to Connie, Ernest, Delzora, and her great-grand twins, she and Buford raised: Donta & Dionta; and Godmother to Feltus, Jr and Kamilah.
Throughout her life, she lived in Louisiana, California, Nw York and Mississippi.
Anna accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at a young age and took upon the assignement of Doorkeeper in the Temple of God. Before her transition, Anna worshipped at Household of Faith (New Orleans, LA). She served as an usher for 40+ years at John the Baptist Church (Barnett, MS) and in her earlier years at Greater Mont Rose Baptist Church (New Orleans, LA).
Anna was known for her boldness, humor, smile, and style. She was a magnificent cook and seamstress who graced her church, clients, family, and friends with both. She loved family gatherings; especially during the Christmas holidays when she and Buford would decorate their home inside and out. It was an anticipated event that drew viewers on looks from around the town. She was preceded in death by her brother Bertile; two sisters: Nora and Patricia; grandson, Zaus, God-son Cornell, and other relatives.
Anna leaves to carry on her legacy of life: 15 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, 29 great-great-grandchildren, three sisters: Yvonne, Alberta (Dale), Rosa (Keith), a brother Feltus, Sr. (Zorain), two sisters-in-law: Maggie and Rose; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and extended family.
Anna kept her beautiful smile and funny gestures going till her final days. I am sure she would want you to always remember her that way.
