Ms. Annie Keyaira Cooks' Obituary
Annie Keyaira Cooks was born on January 17, 1995 in Meridian, Mississippi to Vekerri (Chris) Cooks-Blakely and Bruce Dumas. Cooks devoted her life to Christ at an early age where she participated in True Holiness Church praise team and Springhill MB Church Steppers where she was a phenomenal praise dancer. Cooks attended Quitman School District, where she was an exceptional athlete. She was a triathlete in track, softball, and basketball. She was on homecoming court, class treasurer and gradated with high honors. After graduating from Quitman High School, she attended William Carey University where she also embodied what it meant to be a student-athlete. She was a hard worker, a leader, a challenger, and a protector. Her dedication to be her best was not limited to only on the track, but also off the track and because of that, her success continued well after she graduated. After graduating from William Carey University with her Bachelor's Degree in Science, she moved to Georgia in order to follow her passion in assisting geriatric clients. She moved back to Quitman, MS when she became pregnant with her beautiful baby girl, Anna Grace, whom sparked an even bigger fire within her to become the best person she could be,,. She departed this life unexpectedly on April 3, 2021 along with her daughter Anna Grace. The loss that her family and friends are experiencing is a gain for her grandparents, Annie Mae Cooks, Faye Dumas and Hurley Mae Evans Annie leaves to cherish her memories, her mother Vekerri (Chris) Cooks-Blakely of Brandon, MS , her father Bruce Dumas of Stonewall, MS and Jennifer (Arnet) West of Quitman, MS who were her second loving parents from the age of six months to adulthood; a grandfather, Edward Wallace, a great grandmother Edna Cooks; six brothers, Quartez (Tez) Cooks of Quitman, MS, Christopher (CJ) Blakely of Brandon, MS, Julius Dumas of New Orleans, LA, Nicholas Evans of Jackson, MS, Thomas (Shaquinta) Hick and Julious Heidelberg, Jr. both of Quitman, MS; Two sisters Takerri (CoCo) Cooks and Aurellia (ReRe) West both of Quitman, MS; Six Aunts, Vanessa Dumas of Stonewall, MS, Shaletta Roscoe of Madison, MS, April Collins of Quitman, MS , Lacorea (Mario) Ware of Jackson, MS , Ruby (Paul) Jones of Waynesboro, MS, Mae Evans of Quitman, MS; Six Uncles Ronnie Cooks of.Quitman, MS, Mark Dumas, Fredrick McGruder, Steve Goodwin, Kenyon Irving, Shawn Pollins all of Stonewall, MS and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and a special friend Breana McCree.
