Mrs. Annie L. Jones' Obituary
Annie L. Jones was the fifth (5) daughter born to Mary and James Conley August 15, 1927 in Meridian, MS. She was educated in the State of Mississippi where she later became a believer in Christ at the age of eleven (11) and united with the New Prospect Baptist Church in Savoy, MS under the leadership of Reverend J. C. Armstrong. She was married to her High School sweetheart, William N. Jones, Sr. for 52 years. He preceded her in death. She later moved to the State of Illinois in 1949 and was employed by Vogue Ornament Company. She served as a supervisor at Vogue for 38 years. After visiting many churches, she found a nurturing home for her spirit at the Olivet Baptist Church in 1953 under the leadership of Dr. J. H. Jackson. Some of her positions of service at Olivet were as President of the Baptist Training Union (BTU), Adult Sunday School Teacher of the Ushers Class #14, a member of the Sr. Ushers Board, the Nurse Board, the Willing Workers Circle and the Missionary Society. She is preceded in death by her parents, a step-son, William N. Jones, Jr. and four siblings, Christine Stringfellow, Earnestine Clark, Birdie Lee Sidney and Ida Lee Dubose. She leaves to cherish her memories an adopted daughter, Nicole Jones, God daughters, Jewell Hal1, Judy Matthews, Evelyn and Flora, all of Chicago, Illinois, one sister, Jessie P. Hardaway, Meridian, MS and one brother-in-Law, Tyrone of Chicago, Illinois, many nieces, nephews, loving relatives and friends.
