Mrs. Annie Dell Simmons' Obituary
On Sunday, July 17, 2022, Annie Dell Simmons was given her wings and took flight to a place of eternal rest. Born in Lockhart, MS on August 23, 1934 to the late Ida Christine Cullum and Bishop Cullum, Jr.; she was the second of eight children raised in Eupora, MS. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Congregational Church of God in Meridian, MS upon her departure from her earthly home. As a young woman she married the late Berry "Pete" Simmons and into this union 8 children were born. In the early 1970s Annie Dell moved back to Meridian, MS where she worked tirelessly to provide for her family. Eventually she retired, but due to her passion for children she returned to work as foster grandparent for a local Headstart. Annie Dell was a dedicated Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, Sister, Friend and Woman of God. As an active church member she also enjoyed singing praises to the Lord with the True Light Gospel Singers for over 20 years. She was preceded in death by both parents, five siblings, one grandchild, her husband and eldest daughter Betty Ruth Scott. She is survived by 7 children and 1 bonus daughter; Billy (Bessie) Simmons of Eupora, MS; Jimmy Simmons of Meridian, MS; Dorothy Simmons of Meridian, MS; Shirley Jordan of Long Beach, MS; Sarah Simmons of Meridian, MS; Jackie (Alvin) Edwards of Covington, TN; Toni Davis of Gulfport, MS; Pamela Simmons of Meridian, MS; 2 siblings, Annie Ree Cullum and Ida Lee Roby, both of Eupora, MS; 18 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; 2 dear friends Debra Ramsey and Andrea Flowers; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives & other friends who loved and cherished her dearly.
