Mr. Aretent Cole Lofton's Obituary
Aretent Cole Lofton was born on May 19, 1956 to the late Herman Cole and the late Essie Mae Portis. She was the seventh born child of eleven children. She confessed her faith at an early age and was a member of the Little Hope Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully until her health failed. Aretent was joined in Holy Matrimony to C.T. Lofton on January 18, 1974, and to this union, three children were born: Charles, Atari, and Marquita. Aretent was a talented hairdresser, nurturing babysitter, a great cook, and homemaker, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, great aunt, friend, & confidant. A true delightful and caring soul: "To know her was to love her." Aretent transitioned to Glory at 7:30 pm, on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at UMMC in Jackson, MS. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Herman Cole & Essie Mae Portis, and one sister, Martha Lee Walker. She leaves to cherish her memories to her husband of 46 years, C.T. Lofton; her son, Charles Terrell Lofton; two daughters, Atari Latris Lofton and Marquita Tesha Lofton; one grandson, Tyler Orlando Lofton; one granddaughter, Jasalynn Cierra Ott; two brothers, George Portis of Buffalo, NY and Ricky Earl Cole; seven sisters, Minnie Amerson, Louise Terrell, Laura Ann Miller (Robert Earl}, Freddie Mae Alford, Ruby Cole, Mary Dianne Bland, & Mae Elizabeth Portis. She also leaves to cherish her memories to a special great niece, Kaylee Miller; two goddaughters, Renee Morgan Houston and Shakinna Janea Parks, and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
