Mrs. Aretha Tims White's Obituary
Thursday, March 26, 2015 a Phenomenal little lady responded to a whispering call of The Lord to come home. She must have been nudged to leave the pain, suffering and confusion. Leaving Jimmie and all of us to rest in a new life on the other side. Her creators' voice must have hushed as she bided us farewell. Aretha T. White was born July 5, 1920 in the Shiloh community. Her mother, the late Laura Tims Armstrong raised her with the help of her late grandmother Elsie Tims. She was taught to work hard "so she could have something." Aretha worked on her grandmas' farm while she was very young. Her mother married James "Mutt" Armstrong, a wonderful father to her. As a young lady, Jimmie White laid eyes on her, telling everyone "that's gone be my wife." They were united in marriage on December 10, 1939. --Standing room only. Their life together was bountiful. The two of them lived in Birmingham as he worked for US Steele. She was a homemaker and full time wife. Aretha and Jimmie moved back to MS to be closer to her family and purchased a farm. She was a big part of keeping things going while he continued to work out of town. A young baby, Lawrence "Mann" became part of their lives. She stepped right in, raising him-nurturing him as her own.
she leaves to cherish her memories, a loving husband, Jimmie White, her son Lawrence Tyson and his wife Cassandra of Enterprise, MS. Four granddaughters: Demetrice Tyson, Chanda Portis (Mario), Lawanda Prewitt (Darin), Brenisha (Ron) Hicks, and eight great grandchildren, residing in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Also left to cherish her is a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her adopted children and grandchildren.
