Mr. Arthur C. Shelton, Sr.'s Obituary
On January 31, 2021, the Lord called home Arthur Charles Shelton Sr. Arthur Charles was born in Meridian, Mississippi on June 28, 1946 to Tempie Young and Flint Shelton, who both preceeds him in death. Arthur Charles was apart of an extremely large family, he was one of the eldest sons, his oldest brother David Shelton, proceeds him in death. Arthur Charles loved education and later became an educator. He graduated at the top of his class from T. J. Harris High School in 1966. He attended Harris Jr. College from 1966 to 1968, and ultimately earned his Bacholar's Degree form Jackson State University in 1970. After receiving his degree, Arthur Charles taught at Brandon High School in Jackson, MS in 1970, and later at Carver Jr. High School in Meridian, MS from 1971 until he enlisted in The United States Army in 1973. He served 13 years in the Army as Military Police with the rank of Staff Sargernt. In February of 1971, Arthur Charles married Charlotte Marie Ray, and from this union two children were born, Arthur Charles Shelton Jr. (Tyneshia) of Chesapeake, VA; and Tesha M. Ewing (Corey) of Glenn Dale, MD. Arthur Charles is also the father to Kimberlyn Harper of Jackson, MS; and Nicole Schmidt (Marcel) of Germany in 1996, Arthur Charles married Margerette who proceeds him in death. He leaves behind to cherish four sisters and six brothers; Hellen Ruth Johnson Butler, Nona Mae Hornsby, Bertha Pigford (Larry), and Liza Hopson; all of Meridian, MS; Kenneth Young, Eddie Shelton (Lois), Fredwrick Young (Renee); all of Meridian, MS; Sylvester Young of Jackson, MS; and Armster Young (Valarie) of Tampa, FL. He also leaves to cherish twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and great friends.
