Mrs. Augusta Jones McCoy's Obituary
Augusta Jones McCoy was born on November 28, 1931 to Elmo Jones and Idell Cryer Jones in Lauderdale County, MS. August gave her life to Christ at an early age when she joined Antioch Baptist Church in Daleville, MS. She late joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Lockhart, MS where she remained a faithful member even after they relocated for services due to the building being demolished by fire.
Augusta was united in Holy Matrimony to L.C. McCoy. Augusta was a domestic worker, where he was not only a mentor to her family but also to the Majure Family a well. She enjoyed sewing, cleaning, and making sure her home was in order. Her favorite pastime was cooking, singing, hymns, visiting with her children & grandchildren, and talking on the telephone to family and friends.
Augusta was preceded in death by her parents, Elmo Jones and Idell Cryer Jones, her husband, L.C. McCoy; one sister, Mattie Jones Brown; her daughters, Zella Mae McCoy & Dorothy McCoy Lloyd; grandson & granddaughter, Freddie Lee Warren Jr. & Pamela Patrice Lloyd Gavins; son-in-laws, Bobby E. Lewis Sr., Larry Clark, & Eugene W. Lloyd Sr; and one great-grandchild Daryll Cole. On Tuesday, December 28, 2021, The Lord called His Coving child home to rest.
