Mr. Authur James Powe's Obituary
Authur James Powe was born in DeKalb, Mississippi on May 9, 1940 to the union of Guelda and Roger Powe. He confessed Christ at an early age at New Hope United Methodist Church and later joined St. Peter African Methodist Episcopal Church. Authur was preceded in death by his parents-Guelda and Roger; siblings-Alice, Collin, Lavel, Margie Ree, Roy, and William; and his daughters-Renee and Sandra. On April 24, 2009, God called Authur home. He leaves to mourn a wife, Reatha; six daughters-Arletha Ndoume (Beaudel) of Trussville, AL; Debbie Collins of Phoenix, AZ; Rhonda Powe of Atlanta, GA; Wanda Greenwood (Shawn) of Atlruita, GA; Marie Parker (Donald) of Heidelberg, MS; and Vickie Ransom (Charles) of Detroit, MI; six sons-Eric Powe (Krystal) of Meridian, MS; Frederick Powe (Sheila) of Meridian, MS; Jam.es Jerome Powe (Carolyn) of Meridian, MS; James Russell Powe (Edie) of Detroit, MI;Jeffery Powe (Gwendolyn) of Meridian, MS; and McArthur Powe (Brooke) of Detroit, MI; one sister-Emma Newell (John) of Meridian, MS; and a host of grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Known for his work ethic, Authur began working, at age 8, on the family farm. During his adult years, he was employed in the manufacturing, construction, and steel industry. Authur was especially skilled in welding, but lawn work was his passion for over fifty years. He quickly became the go-to man for lawn repair. During his off days, Authur spent quality time with his family and friends. His favorite pastime was hunting. Authur was a simple, wise, and humble man. Through his love of talk, he quickly connected with whomever he met. He has made our lives more meaningful, and we are truly blessed.
