Mrs. Barbara M. Burnett's Obituary
Mrs. Barbara M. Burnett was born to Mr. Louis and Fannie Mae Brantley Lee in Meridian, MS. She attended Meridian Public Schools, and graduated from Harris High School. She confessed Christ at an early age, and was a lifelong member of St. James A.M.E. Church, where she served on the Senior Usher Board for over 40 years, she served as a Choir member and a Sunday School member in years past. She started with our present Sunday School Board when we took the Sunday School service to zoom due to COVID-19, and became our Worship Leader with lending her voice to sing the opening song. Sister Burnett was a gentle and compassionate spirit, a loving wife, sister, mother, aunt, and friend. Barbara looked forward to her annual vacation. She loved to travel. She would schedule vacations to cities throughout the south in addition to frequent visits to Indianapolis to visit her siblings. She would often comment to her close friends that Indianapolis was the coldest place that she had ever experienced. She was married to Mr. Henry Burnett for 61 years who preceded her in death. Mrs. Barbara Burnett was preceded in death by her two brothers: Louis "Chunkie" Lee, Jr., Chicago, IL, Matthew Lee, of Indianapolis, Indiana; two sisters, Dorothy Fletcher, and Mildred Louise Yarrell, both of Indianapolis, Indiana; three nephews: Simon Yarrell, III, Indianapolis, Indiana; Andre Fletcher, Palmsdale, California, and Matthew "Butch" Lee, Jr., Bowlingreen, KY. She leaves to cherish her memory, her special ., nieces, Dorothy Jean Yarrell and Linda Trotter, and a special nephew Larry Yarrell; one other niece, Alice Fletcher, and four other nephews: Richard Yarrell, Lesley Yarrell, Timothy Yarrell, and Herman Yarrell, all of Indianapolis, Indiana; a great niece, Nicole (Juan) Bebley, a great-great niece, Nakaih Hunter, her great-great youngest niece, Madison Humphrey, she was the apple of her eye, all of Indianapolis, Indiana, and also a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
