Mrs. Barbara Eileen Burrough's Obituary
Barbara E. Burrough was born on January 12, 1925 to the late George Gilbert and the late Ida Carrie Ruth Gilbert.
Barbara E. Burrough accepted Christ at an early age at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Chruch where she was a faithful member until her health failed and she moved to Georgia. Mrs. Burrough was a member of the choir, the Henriene Gilmore Circle and the Missionary Society. Mrs. Burrough had a strong belief in God and loved the Lord. Mrs. Burrough was married to the late Edward Burrough for 7 years and to that union three children were born: Edweena Bolden of Meridian, Mervin Burrough of Atlanta and Janice Jenkins (preceded in death). One sister, Naomi Irvin (preceded in death).
Barbara attended school at TJ Harris High School and also received a sewing degree from Singer Sewing which was located in downtown Meridian, MS. Barbara retired from Queen City Nursing Home and RSVP (foster grandparent with Meridian Public Schools) until the age of 91 years young. Barbara’s hobbies were knitting, sewing and gardening. She was also a member of Eastern Star and Shriner Ladies.
Barbara leaves to cherish her memories: two children, Edweena Bolden & Mervin Burrough; 14 grandchildren: Darnell Gordon, Darrin (Demetri) Gordon, Earnest (Shirley) Gordon, Zachary (Kimmer) Gordon, TeShonda (Darryl) Mosley, Phyllis Bolden, Anthony (Sharetta) Bolden, Pamela (Winston) Noel, Eureka (Terrance) Bryant, Sabrina (Kevin) Johnson, Areterryo Burrough, TeQuanna Rice, Quante (Gloria) Rice
