Mrs. Barbara Ann Jackson's Obituary
Barbara Ann Minor-Johnson-Jackson was born August 27, 1940 to Philip and Linda Minor in Hazlehurst, MS. She was the 5th of 6 children - two boys and four girls. She started school at the age of 6 and attended Parrish Elementary & High School where she played on the basketball team and played drums in the marching band. She attended Utica Junior College where she majored in Health & Physical Education. She did student teaching at Harris High School in Meridian and later became a Physical Education teacher at Carver Jr. High. She married her first husband James Everett Johnson in 1965 and the couple had 3 boys - Guy, Gary, and Glenn. She worked at Middleton High School which later became Northeast Elementary, from which she retired in 1988. She was preceded in death by her husband James in 1983. After retiring from the school system, she worked for several years as a Unit Secretary in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Rush Hospital. She married her second husband, Reverend Charlie Jackson in 1997, gaining a stepson, Bob, daughter Swandra, and son-in-law Glenn Stancil. She was also blessed with granddaughters Taylor and Kayla, and grandsons Jacob and Stephen.
She was preceded in death by husband Rev. Jackson, sister Billye Jean Minor-Pernell, Brother Marvin Minor, and sister Darene Minor-Smith. She is survived by brother Julius Minor of St. Louis, MO, and sister Nelva Minor-Tebout of Johnstown, NY, and sons Guy, Gary, and Glenn Johnson.
