Mrs. Barbara Earl Nunnery's Obituary
Ms. Barbara E. Nunnery was born on September 11, 1945, to the late Joseph & Edna McGowan, Sr. At an early age, she joined Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Enterprise, MS. She was a 1965 graduate of Central High School. After graduation, she relocated to Tuscaloosa, AL. From there she moved to Grand Rapids, MI. There she was employed by Blodgett Memorial Hospital as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Michigan was her home for several years until she decided to move back to MS. She retired in 2011 with over 40 years as a CNA. Her hobbies were: cooking and being in her flower garden. She had a great compassion for caring for the elderly and kids. On Sunday, July 2, 2023, her earthly life ended and she gained her wings. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph & Edna McGowan; a grandson, Tristan Spencer; one sister, Sadie Burks; one brother, Kenneth Ray McGowan; a special friend, Willie "Chill" Brooks. Barbara leaves to cherish her memories with her children, Michele (Enterprise, MS) and Matthew (Madison MS); three grandchildren, Aloria & Aniya Nunnery (Desoto, MS) and Chancelor Glass (Enterprise, MS); three sisters, Mary Alford and Cynthia McGowan (Enterprise, MS) and Betty McGowan (Hickory, MS); two brothers, Joseph McGowan (Enterprise, MS) and Ralph McGowan (Raymond, MS). She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom she loved dearly.
