Mr. Barney Leroy Houston's Obituary
Barney Leroy Houston, the son of Leroy William Houston and Lueverne Mosley Houston was born August 31, 1949 in Meridian, MS. Barney attended Meridian public schools and joined New Hope Baptist Church as a youth. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War era. While serving he was awarded several medals of honor, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the Combat lnfantrymans Badge. He was employed at Avery Denison, Sanders Lumber, Meridian Woodworking and Mississippi Chemical Company. After retirement to keep himself busy, he started a lawn care service in and around the Meridian area. Barney leaves to cherish his memory; his mother, Lueverne Houston; sister, Jacquelyne Baylor (Lieutenant) Watertown, WI; a son, Jonathan Nolan, Meridian, MS; and a daughter, LaDonna Ruffin of Kingston, NY; five grandchildren: Jonathan Jr, Johmiya, Kailyn, Jemiah, and Olivia; nieces, Robbyne and Janna Baylor; Milwaukee, WI; nephew, Douglas Baylor (Janice), Meridian, MS. Cousin and Primary Caregiver, Lanice Fielder (Steve), A special friend Ray and special friend Mable; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
