Mr. Bennie James Roberts' Obituary
Bennie James Roberts was born June 28, 1939 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank and Gladys Roberts. He was the tenth of eleven children of which, six brothers and one sister preceded him in death. At an early age, Bennie accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He later joined the Mount Zion Baptist Church and served as trustee and song in the male chorus. Bennie also received recognition for his beautification project that he worked at the church. Bennie also served his country three years in the U.S. Army. On August 28, 1961, Bennie married Essie Ruth Anderson. This Union was blessed with three wonderful children of which one (Angela Roberts) preceded him in death. Bennie leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Essie Roberts of 56 years, two sons, James D. Roberts, David F. Roberts (Shaundra), all of Meridian, MS; two grandsons, Carlos McKinnis and Tory McKinnis of Meridian, MS; Three great-grandchildren; Moses McKinnis and Isaiah McKinnis of Meridian, MS; Caleb Alexander of Livingston, Alabama; one brother Arthur (Annie Ruth) Roberts of Memphis, TN; two sisters, Minnie Nauflett, Oxen Hills, MD, and Alice Sloan of Meridian, MS; a host of nieces, nephew, cousins, other relatives and friends.
