Mrs. Bertha Mae Lewis' Obituary
Bertha M Lewis (Big Mama to most) was born January 20, 1920, in Pearl River County, MS to the late Ella Mae Jordan Crosby and Henry Crosby. It seemed like she knew half the people on the planet, and they knew her. She never met a stranger and was stern but loving to all. Her quick wit and great smile and laugh were her trademark. Everyone can probably think back on a humorous story and Bertha would be front and center in it.
Bertha found love at an early age and was married to the late Roosevelt Lewis on November 17, 1936. Roosevelt preceded her in death May 22, 1998. They were married for 63 years and adopted two daughters, Lori and Marie whom they loved dearly. Marie preceded her in death February 26, 1998.
Bertha and Roosevelt moved to Brockton, MA and lived there for over 20 years making things easier for family and friends to follow. They helped so many people to get started and to maintain their lives in Massachusetts. Bertha was a dedicated servant of Jehovah and gave her life to the Almighty in March of 1962. She was always spreading the good news of the Kingdom, either by words or by works. That was just the way things went in her life, God first and the rest just fell into place.
