Mrs. Bessie Robinson's Obituary
Bessie Robinson, a beloved daughter, was born to the late James Nash and Louise
Evans Nash on November 1, 1948, in Attala County, Mississippi. She was the eldest
of seven children.
Bessie was raised by a strong, hardworking father and nurtured by a God-fearing
mother. She received her education at Thomastown High School. Throughout her
life, she had a deep passion for flowers, family, cooking, and cleaning.
At an early age, Bessie united with Pleasant Grove #1 Missionary Baptist Church in
Koscuisko, Mississippi. Later, after relocating to Chicago, Illinois, she joined Mount
Calvary Baptist Church.
In February 1966, in Chicago, Illinois, Bessie married Lee A. Gee. During her years
in Chicago, she worked for the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) as a Rail Janitor
Supervisor, where she served with dedication until her retirement. After retiring,
Bessie returned to Mississippi and settled in Meridian, MS, where she was warmly
welcomed and found a loving church family at Saint John Missionary Baptist
Church.
Bessie’s loving memory will live on through her children, Vincent Gee of Meridian,
MS and Carol Gee of Montgomery, AL; three sisters, Shirley Clark of Greer, SC,
Anna M. Stewart of Houston, TX, and Frazzie Mondy (Willie) of Kosciusko, MS;
three brothers, Dwight Nash, Bobby Ray Nash, and Kenyatta Nash, all of Kosciusko,
MS; and six grandchildren of Chicago, IL: Tierra Blackmon, Victoria Blackmon,
LaQuana Haywood (Darien), LaKesha Houzah, Craig Houzah, and Vencina Gee. She
is also survived by her uncle, Bobby Evans (the late Barbara Evans), and a host of
nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Bessie was preceded in death by her son, Robert Tyrone Gee; her grandson, Vincent
Lee Blackmon; her brother, James Alexander Nash (Jewel Nash); and her ex-
husband, David Robinson, Jr.
