Mrs. Betty Jean Forbes' Obituary
Betty was born November 13, 1945 to the late Anges O'neal and Leslie Barrett, in Topton, Ms. She departed her earthly life,peacefuH.y at Queen City Nursing Home, Friday, March 19,2021. She united in Holy Matrimony to Henry Lee Forbes on the 25 of February, 1963. To their union they were blessed with 4 children after that she was blessed with 2 more children. Betty joined Galilee Missionary Baptist Church at an early age in Topton Mississippi. She was a Church Mother and served on the Usher Board and on the Kitchen committee. She served her church faithfully until her health declined. Betty held many jobs throughout her life and will be remembered most from Lake Shore Studio in Marion. She gained local recognition as employee of the month because she had been awarded this honor over 50 times before her retirement. Betty was a down to earth woman, loving, kind hearted, and caring. She was very blunt and often had a "Tell it like it is " spirit. She had a very special bond with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved them dearly. On March 19, 2021, Our heavenly father decided to pick a rose for his garden and our beloved Betty peacefully left her earthly body and gained her wings. She was preceded in death by both her parents, a daughter Jerri Morton; grandchildren-Jeremy Forbes,Jessica Osborne, Dominic Houston, and Tajh Forbes; brothers-Henry and Thomas O'Neal; Dan, David and Abe Barrett, and sister Earlene Scott. Betty leaves to treasure fond memories 5 Children-Rozell Houston(McAuthur); Lisa(Greg) Brown,Janice(Fred) Collins, Cheri Forbes, all of Meridian, Anges (Toney) Ward of Nashville,TN; one sister, Shirley Hodges, of Meridian, MS, one step-brother, Ronnie Lockhart; 2 sisters-in-law, Shirley O'Neal and Ora Barrett both of Meridian; 24 Grandchildren; 70 Great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
