Ms. Betty Hawkins' Obituary
Betty Hawkins affectionately known as "Mama B." was born Meridian, MS to Andrew and Mamie Hawkins on September 10, 1954.
She graduated from Meridian High School in 1973. In June 1973, she joined the National Guard and served until July 1976. She worked in the Medical and Billing Industry until her retirement. After retirement, she could not sit down. She continued to share her love and dedication by working part time at the Boys and Girls Club of Meridian. She was also actively involved in Meridian High School '73 Cruisers.
At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was a faithfully member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church until her health failed her.
She is preceded in death by her parents Albert and Mamie Hawkins.
She is survived by her three children: DeCarlos (Kesia) Hawkins, Jacksonville, FL, Cicely Hawkins, Houston, TX, and Michael Hawkins, Jacksonville, FL; three grandchildren:
Carlisha (James) Leggette, Meridian, MS, Jaylon and Justin Hawkins, Jacksonville, FL; two great-grandchildren: Ja'Qaylen Lewis, and Laylah Leggette, Meridian, MS; four siblings Mary Stokes, Augusta, GA, Mamie Hodges, Clarence Hawkins and Robert Hawkins, Meridian, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including The Harrison Family, The Neely and Proctor Family, The Lewis Family, The Moss Family, The Hardaway-Lewis Family, Houston, TX Family and The Boys and Girls club of Meridian.
