Mrs. Betty Johnson's Obituary
Betty Jean Johnson, Ms. Peggy. 88 years old. of Quitman, MS received her wings on August 27, 2020. Peggy was born on May 12.1932. in Crandall, MS to Ellen and Isaac Gibson. She retired from Bambergers Knitting Mill in Cleveland, OH. She later relocated to her hometown Quitman, MS. where she joined Shady Grove A.M.E Church and gave her life to Christ in 1984. She served as a member of Shady Grove A.M.E Church, Missionary Society, NAACP, & she was an activist of her community up until her health declined. Betty Jean Johnson, was truly an inspiration to so many people. She always managed to have a smile on her face. and she was very involved in her church, and community. She's preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister Voncille Haynes, and 1 grand-daughter Sashaye Johnson. She leaves to cherish 3 daughters; Shelia Johnson (Detroit. Ml). Sylvia Johnson (Gulfport. MS). and Shannon Johnson (Quitman. MS). 3 granddaughters; Tineka Maddox, Sade Johnson, and Shante Hailes. 3 great granddaughters; Alasia Peebles, Mariah Sumrall. Treazure Johnson. 1 great grandson; Jaylen Jones. A special friend; Martha Prince. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other friends.
