Mrs. Betty R. Scott's Obituary
Betty Ruth Simmons Parker Scott, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 after a long battle with cancer. She was born on February 3, 1953 to Annie Dell Simmons and the late Berry ''Pete" Simmons. She was raised in Eupora, MS and graduated from Eupora High School. Betty gave her life to Christ joining Embry Church of God at an early age under the leadership of Reverend Joe Bell and continued as a faithful mem,ber serving our Lord under the leadership of Pastor Stanley J. Coleman, Sr. Betty was a mother-figure to many and gave birth to four sons, Timothy Terrell Parker, Antwon Jamelle Parker, Antonio Vontrell Parker, and Eddie Andrekius Scott. As a single parent, she worked tirelessly to make ends meet and provide for her sons. She began her career in retail working for Gaylord's Department Stores in the late 1970s. She then moved to careers as a convenient store clerk, Bergen Brunswig pharmaceutical clerk, Sam's Club product demonstrator and Walmart cashier. Betty loved her family and was adored by all she met. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, traveling and cooking food for her friends and family! She was the lead for her church's Kitchen Committee and the Pastor Appreciation Committee. With no hesitation, Betty always ensured her family and friends had a good time with plenty of good food whenever there was a family event. Betty was a strong, compassionate, kind, loving, and caring woman of God. She was preceded in death by her son Timothy Terrell Parker and her father Mr. Berry ''Pete" Simmons. She is survived by her three sons: Antwon Jamelle (Jonica) Parker of Mililani, Hawaii, Antonio Parker of Meridian, MS, and Eddie Scott of Bay St. Louis, MS. Two very special grandchildren: Antwon "Al" Jamelle Parker II and Kyron "Ky Ky" Jonathan Parker. Seven brothers: Billy (Bessie) Simmons of Eupora, MS, Jimmy Simmons of Meridian, MS, James Mills of Eupora, MS, Gerald Robinson of Eupora, MS, Torash (F1orence) Booker of Miami, FL, Kerry Booker of Killeen, TX, Lebaron "Tim" Williams, Moss Point, MS; Seven sisters: Dorothy Simmons of Meridian, MS, Shirley Jordan of Long Beach, MS, Sarah Simmons of Meridian, MS, Jackie (Alvin) Edwards of Covington, TN, Toni Davis of Gulfport, MS, Lashum Scott of Gulfport, MS, Lakeyia (Kennie) Young of Convington, GA. Like a sister; Pamela Simmons of Meridian, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who loved her very much.
