Mrs. Beverly Gaddis Phillips' Obituary
Beverly Jean Gaddis Phillips, 65. a retired Medical Ward Clerk and Nursing Assistant, and lifelong Meridian, MS resident, passed away unexpectedly on January 29, 2024. Survived by her devoted husband, Robert Lynn Phillips, Beverly leaves behind her children Kimberly (Curtis) Grace, Yolanda Gaddis, Jasmine Phillips (Ellis, Sr.) Cockrell, and children in love Teresa (Orlando) Armstrong, Charles Brewster, Theresa Brewster, Debra Johnson. She is also remembered by cherished grandchildren, sister Bertha (Gus) Blanks, half-brother Micheal Moss, sisters and brothers-in-law Christine (John) Brown, Katherine (William) Clayton, Maggie (Clarence) Gardner Thomas Blakeney, Jr, Robert Locke, Jr, Eddie Allen, Jr; Aunt Berdia Mae (Willard) Reed; dearest nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends. Preceding her in death are her parents, J.B. and Betty Jean Gaddis, brother Ronnie Lee Gaddis, son-in-love Curtis L. Grace, aunts, uncles, and brothers-in-law. Beverly was born on July 28, 1958, to the late J.B. and Betty Gaddis. A proud 1977 Meridian High School graduate. She graduated from Meridian Junior College in 1979 and continued to later obtain her nursing assistant certification. This led to a lifelong career in home health and nursing facility care. With a love for people and a heart of gold, she spent 28 years at East Mississippi State Hospital, treating residents and coworkers like family. Retiring in 2017, she soon returned to continue her love of servicing those in need. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She shared over 45 years of love and cherished memories with her husband, Robert. Their union was filled with love, faith, light, and laugher as they raised their children. She adored her family, especially her grandchildren, and surrounded herself with happiness, good food, great people, laughs, music, and love. Beverly served in many roles at Pleasant Grove M.B. Church, with her favorite being an Usher smiling and welcoming all who entered our church doors. She lived a colorful life, smiled wholeheartedly, praised God, loved fiercely, spoke plainly, and was a generous missionary to all in need. To know her was to love her.
