Mr. Billy C. Hursey Sr.'s Obituary
Billy Charles Hursey Sr. known to his family as Daddy, Poppy & Papa, was born on January 23, 1947 in Meridian, MS to the late Virginia and B.C. Hursey. Billy joined St. John Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and served over the course of his life. He served as a faithful trustee and in any capacity needed.
Billy graduated from T.J. Harris with the Class of 1965. For a short period of time, he attended Meridian Junior College before following his dream and enlisting in the United States Marine Corps.
On November 12, 1966, Billy united in holy matrimony to Martha Louise Clayton. This union produced four beautiful children: Dorothy, Billy Jr., Belinda, and Don. Precious Hursey and Angel Richard were raised as their very own children as well.
Billy was a hard working man who was highly skilled. He was dedicated and committed to his wife and children. He retired from Delco Remy, a General Motors plant that was located locally after many years of service.
A devoted grandfather and full time great-grandfather, he loved his new roll of driving Mariah and Matthew to school each morning.
On Wednesday, March 3, 2023 at Regency Hospital in Meridian, Mississippi, God honorably discharged Billy Charles Hursey, Sr. from his earthly mission.
