Mrs. Birdie Mae Green's Obituary
Berdie Mae "Bert" Green was born December 9, 1949, a daughter of the late Bill "Sport" & Emma "Dear" Williams-Green in Clarke County Mississippi. Bert entered into eternal peace on Friday, July 19, 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved brother Morris "Bubba" Green. Bert joined Little Zion United Methodist Church at an early age. She graduated from Enterprise High School in 1968. After high school, Bert attended Meridian Junior College and obtained a degree in nursing in 1972. Bert was the first African American Nurse at H.C. Watkins Memorial Hospital in Quitman, Mississippi. She was employed by Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana until her health failed. She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her devoted sons: Jason Christopher H. Winkler and William "Marc" Winkler of Baton Rouge, LA; Six loving siblings: Eva (Leon) Fleming, Meridian, MS; Dorothy (Tommy) Pearson, Stonewall, MS; Katie Nichols, Quitman, MS; Edna "Sue" Irving, Stonewall, MS' Johnnie (Mary) Green, Stonewall, MS; Willie (Diane) Green, Quitman, MS; a special niece; Robin ''Nita" (Fredrick) Kirskey, Quitman, MS, a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
