Mr. Calvin Earl Hampton's Obituary
Mr. Calvin Earl Hampton was born on September 1, 1950. He was the 6th child born to the union of Catherine and the late Marcellus Hampton Sr. He accepted Christ at an early age when he joined Little Zion Baptist Church.
Calvin attended West Kemper High School and at the age of 18 began working for Nathan Daniel Roofing for may years. He later moved on to work for Norman Roofing Company until he could no longer work due to poor health.
Calvin was known as the “storyteller” of the Hampton family. No one could tell a story like Cal. He had a way of telling a story that was full of action and excitement. Sure he may have added a part or two, but it sure did sound good!
Calvin was united in Holy Matrimony to Wanda J. Marsh on August 17, 1973. To this union four children were born. Calvin’s life ended on March 31, 2014 in Meridian, MS. His son, Calvin Hampton, Jr., his father, Marcellus Hampton Sr., and two brothers Petis and Lorenzar Hampton, preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memory, a wife of 40 years, Wanda Jean Hampton of Meridian, MS; (1) son and (2) daughters: Markilus Deon (Olympia) Hampton, of Meridian, MS; Keisha Nicole Hampton of Meridian, MS; Tianna Rochelle Hampton of Meridian, MS; (5) Grandchildren: Anastasia, Alayzia, Ta’Naysia, Ta’Kayvia, and Ta’Gayon all of Meridian, MS; (6) sisters and (8) brothers: Annette (Ronnie) Johnson of Detroit, MI, Geneva Hampton of Cleveland, OH, Virginia (Al) Liburd of Chula Vista, CA, Betty (Othell) Brown of Daleville, MS, Cathy (Larry) Easley of Collinsville, MS, Gwendolyn (Lee) Steele of DeKalb, MS; Willie Louis (Orene) Hampton of Union, MS, Herbert (Clemieteen) Hampton of Collinsville, MS, Marcellus (Minister Jeannie) Hampton Jr., of Collinsville, MS, Donald (Venia) Hampton of Collinsville, MS, Carl (Corvette) Hampton of Chesapeake, VA, Alan Hampton of Jackson, MS, Ezra Hampton of Collinsville, MS and Nathan Hampton of Meridian, MS; (1) Mother-in-law, (1) daughter-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
