Ms. Candace Marterrius Dunn's Obituary
Candace Marterrius Dunn was born on July 8, 2000 to LaTonya Spencer and Marcus Dunn at Rush Foundation Hospital in Meridian, Mississippi. On February 1, 2009, at the tender age of 8, she confessed her faith in Christ and was baptized at Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Bailey, MS. In her youth. Candace was a very active and dedicated member of her church. Some of her duties included but were not limited to the Youth Ministry, Youth Choir, Praise Dance Team, Youth Sunday School and Youth Wednesday Night Bible Study.
A 2018 graduate of West Lauderdale High School, Candace was a very intelligent and bright student. She was a proud member of the HOSA Club. Candace continued her education after being accepted to both the Dental Hygienist Program and the Respiratory Therapist Program at Meridian Community College. After much consideration, she chose to pursue Respiratory Therapy and became a May 2021 graduate. Shortly after graduation, she passed the State Board Examination and became a Certified Respiratory Therapist. She then took the necessmy steps to add to her credentials by becoming a Registered Respiratory Therapist. The baby girl of the family, she was known for her big smile and dimples. A smile that would light up any room. Candace was very fashionable. She loved taking pictures, and loved, loved, loved make up. She was her own makeup artist. She also loved riding in the mountains, going out to eat, traveling and watching television.
For a brief period, Candace was employed with Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville Alabama, before returning home where she became a valued employee of Anderson Regional Medical Center where she worked until her passing. . On January 5, 2023, Candace entered eternal rest leaving to cherish her memories her loving mother and father, LaTonya Spencer of Collinsville, MS, and Marcus Dunn of Meridian, MS; four brothers: JaDareon Spencer, Jermarcus Glenn, Kingston Dunn and Marquis Dunn all of Meridian, MS; five sisters: Empriss Dunn, Destiny Dunn, Martinez Dunn, Justice Dunn and Journey Dunn all of Meridian, MS; maternal grandparents: Romona S. Spencer of Bailey, MS; and Larry Spencer of Collinsville, MS; two uncles: Ronald Dunn of Nashville, TN, and Rotez Johnson of Bailey, MS; two-aunts: Sharon Dunn and Tera Spencer of Meridian, MS; three nephews: Dillion Bass and Brenton Jennings both of Collinsville, MS; and Ryleigh Glenn of Meridian, MS; her very first love, Joshua Harrison of Huntsville, AL; two special god-mothers: Alicia Carter of Meridian, MS and Carla Spells of Atlanta; GA; a special sister, Onisha Brown of Meridian, MS and a host of other relatives and friends who will forever miss her. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Robert and.Juanita Dunn, maternal grandmother: Ethel Mae Spencer; two uncles: Terry Dunn and Robert Dunn, Jr.; paternal great uncle: Dwight Wilson.
