Carl Leland Todd, Jr. was born in Meridian, Mississippi at Anderson Infirmary currently known as Anderson Regional Medical Center on July 31, 1946 to the late Carl Leland Todd, Sr. and the late lrmertee Todd-Roach. On July 31, 2019 he celebrated his 73rd birthday with family and friends. His life was well lived and he was well loved! He remained faithful as he fought to recover from a recent stroke when the lord called Carl, Jr. home. He died peacefully September 19, 2019 at Diversicare Nursing Home, surrounded by his family. This gentle, loving, caring, and wonderful man left a permanent mark etched upon our hearts and he will truly be missed. His mild mannered personality always knew the right thing to say in any situation. Family was a pivotal priority of Carl, Jr.'s life. He was an honoured husband and is survived by his wife and friend of 46 years Deborah (Cox) Todd. He was a patriarch, father of his daughter Carlissa (Todd) McCoy and her husband James Michael McCoy; two sons Carl Leland Todd Ill and his wife Shawan (Page) Todd and Phillip Todd. A loving grandfather to Marquis McCor, Jamar McCor, Andrianna Taylor, Carter and Carmen Todd and their mother Danielle Cole. He was a faithful brother to Thelma (Todd) Robinson, Cassie (Todd) Brown, Hattie (Todd) Gordon, Ida Bea (Todd) Tomlin and Paul Todd all of whom he leaves to mourn along with Xandria & Javon Collins, his Sister-in-law Michelle Cox and two Brothers-in-law Kenneth and Emile Cox, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other beloved family and friends. Carl, Jr.'s Catholic faith was also a priority. He was a lifetime member of St Joseph Catholic Church and the Catholic Community of Meridian. He was an active member of the Choir Ministry where he sang at both St Joseph's and St. Patrick's Church. He loved to sing and his talented Baritone/Bass voice was very well trained. Carl Jr. also attended the former St. Joseph's Catholic School where he played basketball. He graduated from St Augustine Seminary in Bay St Louis, Mississippi. After graduation, he attended Divine Word College in Epworth, Iowa to become an ardent defender of the Holy Scripture and a humble servant of our lord Jesus Christ He was later dratted into the United States Army and was a retired Vietnam Veteran. Carl, Jr. worked many jobs and didn't brag about any but his family and all who knew him will agree that he was the epitome of a handyman and a Carl, Jr. of all trades! He was a perfectionist and proud of every project he worked on especially when he built and repaired bicycles. He was often called "Bicycle or Dikeman" by the children in the neighborhood. He was a quiet man but he could hold his own integrity in his family and church life. He enjoyed family gatherings, watching a good western movie or any sports event He loved Country Music and fishing! He was fluent in Latin. As an avid baseball player and a fast runner, there were times in his young life when he played baseball where he would climb a fence or walk up a wall and make an out by catching a fly ball or pop up thought to be a home-run. Carl Leland Todd, Jr. had a long standing relationship with God, and although absent from his earthly body he is a loving memory in our heart and is now present with the lord.
