Mrs. Catherine Hattie Jones' Obituary
Catherine Hattie Jones, affectionately known as “Cat”, was born on January 29, 1929, to Mrs. Henry & Willie Bell Johnson. Catherine was the second of eleven children. She received her schooling in DeKalb, MS and was a caregiver for many years until her retirement. Catherine accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was a faithful member of First Union Missionary Baptist Church until her passing. She served in many capacities at First Union of which she will be greatly missed. Catherine was joined in holy matrimony to the late Mr. Perry Jones. She was not only a devoted and loving faithful servant, she also a loving, devoted and caring mother, who loved her children, grandchildren and great grands as well as her great-great grandchildren. She was family oriented and enjoyed spending time with her many family members. Her soft spoken, yet stern voice wil be missed by all. Catherine’s favorite past time was spending time in her garden. Catherine was preceded in death by two sons, Henry (Betty) Johnson and Robert Granger; one grandson, Randy Hickman; and four siblings, Geanie Christine Johnson, Lily Lucille Stennis, Shell Johnson and James Johnson.
Catherine leaves to cherish her memories, her children: Shirley (Herman) Windham, of Tuskegee, AL; Patricia (Charlie) Brooks; Lavelle Granger and Dennis (Gloria) Granger, of Meridian, MS. Her grandchildren: Christopher (Felicia) Windham of Tuskegee, AL, Tishara Cole Granger, Jerome (Bridgida) Brooks, Derrick Brooks, Veronica (Derrick) Ramsey, Ridge Rogers, Dennis Scott, Michael Boyd, Kendrick Anderson, Henry Johnson, Sanderica Granger, Tobe Brown, all of Meridian, MS, LeeWauna Odem of Racine, WI, and Victor (Brandi) Huggins of Atlanta, GA. Her siblings: Ruth (Oscar) Wilson, Helen Brooks, of Meridian, MS; Doris Smith of St. Louis, IL; Edward (Vickie) Johnson of Ann, OH; Willie Mae Jordan of Racine, WI and Rodney (Zarist) Johnson of Madison, IL. As well as a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
