Mrs. Cecile Edwards' Obituary
Cecile Gordon Edwards wonderful journey of life began on June 7, 1937, to Floyd Gordon and Lula Gordon in Lauderdale County, MS. Cecile completed her earthly life's journey on Monday, March 6, 2023 at her residence at the sweet age of 85. Cecile is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Edwards, Sr.; two: sisters, Lula Mae Washington and Valerie Malla; two brothers, Charles Gordon and Floyd Gordon, Jr.
Cecile accepted Christ as an early age and united with Greenhill Baptist Church in Toomsuba, MS. On November 25, 1960, Cecile uniteq in holy matrimony to James Edwards, Sr. and the two became one. To this union, thirteen children were born. She and her family joined the Agape Storehouse Apostolic Church under the leadership of Pastors John H. and Linda F. Willis. She attended church faithfully and served on the Mother's Board until her health began to fail.
During her lifetime, she worked in Housekeeping and at Nina's Dress Shop. Anyone that knew her, knew she loved God. She was filled with the Holy Ghost, and she wasn't ashamed to show it. She rejoiced in telling her testimonies of how God had been so good to her.
Cecile leaves to cherish her memories: thirteen children, James Edwards, Debra (Joseph) Martin, Gary (Diane) Edwards, all lr Meridian, MS, Terry (Kimberly) Edwards of Owensboro, KY, LaMaurice Edwards, Patricia Clayton, Marilyn Coleman, Janice (James) Mitchell, Lisa (Tyrone) Scott, all of Meridian, MS, Luther Edwards of Hattiesburg, MS, Ray Charles (Lakisha) Edwards of Meridian, MS, Sylvia (Anthony) Arrington of Burton, MI and Kendrick Edwards of Meridian; 42 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Albert Brown; sisters-in-law, Shirley Brown and Mildred Gordon and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She also leaves two special friends, Linda Swain and Carolina Wilson. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
