Mrs. Cecilea Ree "Lesia Cooley" Kennedy's Obituary
Cecilea Ree “Lesia Cooley” Kennedy was born August 27, 1961 to Aubrey L. and Rosie L. Cooley. At an early age, she united with Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church. “Lesia Cooley”, as she was affectionately called, attended school in the Jasper County School District. She was part of the class of 1981 of Heidelberg High School.
“Lesia Cooley” worked several jobs during her lifetime including Howard Industries, Laurel Lumber Company where she was the first female to be employed, and Masonite Security. Lesia Cooley loved cooking and feeding her family and anyone who needed or wanted to eat. After she stopped working, she took care of her grandchildren who she loved dearly.
“Lesia Cooley” was preceded in death by her father, Aubrey L. Cooley; and two brothers, William Patrick Cooley and Bobby Cooley. She departed this life Friday, June 29, 2018 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
“Lesia Cooley” leaves to cherish her memories, her mother, Rosie L. Cooley of Heidelberg, Mississippi; two daughters, Shikinia (Chris) Ward and Crystal Kennedy both of Laurel, Mississippi; one son, Willie Kennedy of Laurel, Mississippi; three sisters, Grace Cooley and Deborah (Willie Ray) Harrison both of Heidelberg, Mississippi, and Jacquline Cooley of Laurel, Mississippi; two brothers, George Cooley of Chicago, Illinois and Edward Cooley of Laurel, Mississippi; five grandchildren, Kristopher Ward, Gabriel Ward, and Kenadi Ward “Baby K” all of Laurel, Mississippi, Kiara Kennedy and Elijah Kennedy both Aurora, Illinois; one uncle, L.C. (Fleecie) Cooley of Laurel, Mississippi; two aunts, Deloris (Johnny) Washington of Heidelberg, Mississippi and Sylvia (James) Evans of Ellisville, Mississippi; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
