Mr. Charles Barney's Obituary
Charles Barney always wanted to be an actor! His good looks, charm, charisma, quick wit and great sense of humor had all the makings of star! Not to mention his stellar ability to sing, his smooth "camel walk" dance moves, and improv acting skills could have gotten him a leading role in Hollywood! Charles never fulfilled his dream of commanding a stage! He never saw his name in lights yet he was a shining star in God's eyes! Now heaven has its "Best Actor" and Charles gets the ultimate reward! The only child born to the late Walter C. and Lillie V. Barney in Stonewall, MS, Charles in his golden years, received favor to live in Hollywood, CA where theaters and major tv networks line the streets. God's favor sat him among stars like Dottie Peoples, Stevie Wonder, Common, B.o.B, and Roxanne Reese. A simple God-fearing man, he served as a deacon, taught Sunday school, and sung in the choir. He made a dramatic impact in the lives of people he touched and was loved and respected for his concern for others. Always quick to tell you his younger years were quite a fumble, however, God is a redeemer! God doesn't look at a man's deeds he looks at his heart! Scripture says ALL THINGS work together for the good of those who love the Lord and are called according to HIS purpose! Charles found purpose in motivating others to fulfill their dreams and to make a better 1life for themselves. He was especially passionate about mentoring young men into adulthood urging them to not make the same mistakes he made in his youthful days. Up to his last breath he brought fatherly companion and healing joy to his much younger roommate in the nursing home. A caregiver to his parents, a God father, a mentor, Charles was a constant friend. Charles Barney was a retired mill supervisor at Dixie Yam, Chattanooga, TN. He was married 10 years to his high school sweetheart (Lillie) and mother of his 4 children: Rickie C. Barney (deceased 2012), Patricia (Isaac) Washington), Delores (Gary) Burgess, and Joseph Roger Barney. He has 13 Grandchildren: Eric, Maurice (Atitqua), Rickie Jr. (deceased), Tremain, Chekilla, Tiffany, Camaren, Tamara, Cornelius, Jasmine, Victor, Dashinaye, and J adieana! 11 Great-Grands: Dominique, Derrell, E 'manuel, Blossom, Blessons, Ryan, Tatum, KaVion, Serenity, Kimora, and Salaiyah.
