Charles Edward Robertson Sr. was born August 17, 1938 in Meridian, MS. He was the youngest of six children born to Arthur and Nellie M. Robertson. Charles accepted Christ at an early age and has attended Savannah Grove Baptist Church since his childhood. He was a faithful member of the Savannah Grove Baptist Church where he was ordained as a Deacon on July 4th, 1982 under Rev. William I. Clark. He would eventually become a Chairman of the Deacon Board and a member of the C.E. Rue Male Chorus until his health began to fail. Charles was preceded in death by his parents (Arthur Robertson Sr. and Nellie M. Robertson), his brothers (Edward Robertson and Arthur Robertson.) and his sisters (Ruby Burkes, Essie Oliver, and Paralee Thomas.) Charles graduated from T.J. Harris High School in 1957 before locating to Cincinnati, OH to further his education. But due to the needs of our nation's defense, Charles was drafted into the U.S. Army in June of 1960 where he would continue to serve for a combined total of 35 years between the Active Duty Army and the U.S. Army Reserves. He eventually became the first African American to attain the rank of Command Sergeant Major in the state of Mississippi, while simultaneously earning numerous citations for achievement and meritorious service along the way. In 1962 he met his sweetheart, Rosetta Johnson Robertson, who would become his wife and faithful companion of 56 years. From this union three children were born, Cassandra (Noah), Charles II, and Cynthia (Leonard). Charles and Rosetta have been blessed with seven grandchildren (Destiny, Courtney, Jeida, Keila, Domonique, Alexis, and Nia) and one great grandchild (Zoey). Charles and Rosetta also have two God children - Johnathon Davis Jr. and McKenzie Armstrong.
