Mr. Charles Leon Wilson Jr.'s Obituary
Charles Leon Wilson Jr., affectionally called, "Jim Dandy", the life of the party and family comedian was born on October 29, 1962, in Meridian, Mississippi to the late Charles and Katie Irby Wilson. Jim Dandy was quite the character, and many believed he missed his true calling as a comedian. Katie Wilson, his mother reared him in the Ebenezer Baptist Church where he accepted Christ as his personal Savior. Charles served on Usher board and Junior Choir.
Charles "Jim Dandy" was educated and graduated Meridian High School in 1980. After high school, Charles joined the United States Army. Charles was stationed at Ft. Hood and Fort Still, Texas and Germany. Charles completed his duty in the U.S. Army as a Corporal and joined the civilian life. He spent several years managing many small businesses, such as, Comcast Cable, NAS Meridian Commissary, Piggly Wiggly, and Winn Dixie. His last 12 years were spent as the lead Custodian for Meridian Public Schools. He took so much pride in this position because it allowed him to be a mentor some young men that was headed down the wrong path. He often shared many stories of his mentorship and how he loved hearing "Hey Mr. Wilson" paged over the loudspeaker. Charles loved sharing how he would tell the athletes of how great an athlete he was in his high school days. Charles celebrated his retirement from Meridian Public School a few weeks before his death.
Saturday morning on May 17,2025 at his residence, Charles left his earthly home to go be with his heavenly father, he was 62 years old. Jim Dandy was always full of impressions and jokes that often left everyone in tears of laughter.
"Jim Dandy" was charming, full of style and "Swag" and a lover of LOUD music and fancy cars.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Katie Wilson; grandparents, James Wilson and Sadie Hill and Albert and Essie Irby; uncle, James Wilson Jr., aunt, Dorothy Wilson Brown and Carolyn Bennamon, and brother-in-law, Emmitt Landrum.
He is survived by his wife, Daisy Landrum Wilson of Meridian, MS; daughter Latasha McGlothin (Vernon) of Dallas, TX; sons, Lavetrick "CJ" Wilson of Meridian, MS and Coby Brown of Arlington, TX; a stepson Cortez Landrum • (Dezaree) of Lansing MI; sisters, Terrie Collier (Alvin), Vickie Williams Johnny), and Yolanda Hall of Meridian, MS, and Caprice Wilson of Stockton, CA; step sister, Shirley Cunningham of Meridian, MS; grandchildren: Bryson and Kloey McGlothin, Kylah Wilson, Cortez Landrum Jr., Alaja and Alanya Hopson, Jayden Brown and Corshavia Landrum, Destiny Law, Camyia Brown, Ava Nash, Princeton Lilly, Cayden Brown; great uncle, James Cole of St.
Louis, MO; aunts, Sennie-Mae Irby of Newark, NJ, Alma (Michael) Evenly, Annette and Loretta Irby all of Cleveland, OH; a loving ex-mother in love, Ms. Beulah Ann Cole and Cathy Wilson and sister-in-law Charlie Hudson of Montgomery, AL. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and many friends who will miss him dearly.
