Mr. Charlie McCarty, Sr.'s Obituary
Charlie McCarty Sr. was born August 8, 1926, to the late Ora D. Hughes, and John S. McCarty, in Clarke County, MS. He was one of twelve siblings born into this union. Charlie received an honorable discharge for his service, in the Army, as a Rifle Marksman. On March 31, 1947, Charlie married Canella Brown, and to this union five children were born. He later moved to Chicago and lived there for a lengthy time where he was employed with Masonite Corporation. In 1970 he moved back home to Shubuta where he began to raise fields of vegetables while working at Burlington Industries where he retired from. He departed this life Monday, March 18, 2019, at his home. His wife, ten siblings, and a grandson preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memories: Five children: Charles (Patricia) McCarty, of Florence, MS, Betty Forbes, Sherrie (Jimmie) Gamblin, of Shubuta, MS, Johnny (Evandy}, and Roger McCarty both of Chicago, IL, as a daughter; Detra McCarty, as a son, Tracy McCarty, a sister; Birdie Mae (Roosevelt) Blakney of Shubuta, MS, as a brother; Alan (Shirley) McCarty, of Gardenia, CA, three brothers-in law; Lawrence C (Katie) Brown, and John A. Pickens, both of Shubuta, MS, and Charlie Scott of Chicago, IL, one sister-in-law; Minnie Reese McCarty, fourteen grandchildren: Detra, Kim, Tracy, Kelly, Delacey, Roger Jr., Brian, Kyle, Krystal, Michael, Charlie Ill, Jimetra, Cameron, and Mya, thirteen great grandchildren, and a host of Special Nieces, Nephews,. and other relatives.
