Mrs. Christine L. James' Obituary
Christine was born to parents Henry and Emma Lofton on September 27, 1939. She was one of five children born to her parents in Lauderdale County Mississippi. At an early age she accepted Jesus Christ as her savior and joined the Springhill Missionary Baptist Church in Kewanee. She was a graduate of Stevenson High School of Toomsuba. Christine would marry Joe Oliver James, her long-time sweetheart. She began her working career as a home health aid but eventually became a nurses' aid for the Lauderdale County Health Department. She would continue her career in health care until her retirement in 2000. Joe and Christine were faithful members of Springhill Missionary Baptist Church. Later in life, she would unite with Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church were she would fellowship until the time of her death. Christine Lofton James transitioned into her eternal life in the early morning hours of October 13, 2013 at Meridian Community Living Center. She is survived by her three beloved children: Marilyn Diane James of Toomsuba, MS, David Warren James (Felicia) of Minneapolis, MN and Sarah Elizabeth James of Rochester, MN. Two brothers: Thomas (Florencine) Lofton of Moreno Valley, CA and Robert (Margaret) Lofton of Conyers, GA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joe James, sister Bernice Lofton, brother Richard Lofton and brother A.C. Lofton. She also leaves behind many cousins, nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
