Mrs. Clara Clark's Obituary
Mrs. Clara Ann Clark of Meridian, MS passed away at her home on October 13, 2023 at the age of 86. She was one of seven children born to Joe Willie Love, Sr. and Anne Beulah Stewart Love in Marion, MS on
February 4, 1937.
Clara and her siblings were raised on a farm by loving, devoted, and hard-working parents. She was kind
and loving and enjoyed listening to various genres of music to include gospel and country. She also
enjoyed attending athletic games, gospel concerts, movies, and other activities with one of her best
friends, Rosie. Clara graduated from high school and took some college courses before gaining
employment at St. Joseph/Meridian Regional Hospital and retiring after almost 30 years of service in the
dietary department.
Clara met the love of her life, Bobby Clark, and they married in 1957. Clara and Bobby raised two sons
and two daughters. Clara took great pride in raising her children and always stressed the importance of
education and integrity. She was always present for her children’s athletic events, piano recitals, and
other school activities and she was their greatest cheerleader. Her grandchildren were also blessed to
have her as their “maw-maw” because the love and care that she showered on them were
insurmountable.
Clara was known for her outstanding cooking skills. Family and friends often speak about her coconut
and German chocolate cakes and a variety of dishes. She often made cakes for family members on
special occasions. The family favorite was homemade fried apple turnovers and whenever someone
visited, they always asked for them. She also greatly enjoyed gardening and was known for her “green
thumb”.
Clara is survived by her husband, Bobby Clark, her daughters, Sandra Briscoe (William), and Helene
Martin (Alce), her son, Anthony Clark, her sister, Nora Ruth Love, eight grandchildren, Jordan, Brandon,
Devin, Cornell, Micah, Koen, Rayne, and Capri, three great grandchildren, Ezra, Eli and Declan (plus one great grandson due this month), a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives, and friends.
Clara was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Allen Clark, parents, Joe Willie Love, Sr. and Anne
Beulah Stewart Love, four brothers, Joe Willie Love, Jr., Walter Earl Love, Sr., Auther Lee Love, and
Raymond Love, and one sister, Myrtle McCoy.
