Mrs. Clara Mae "Jackie" Moore's Obituary
Clara Mae "Jackie" Glover Moore was born on January 26, 1936 to the late Porter Glover, Sr. and Emma White. She was the youngest of four children and was often called by the nickname, "Jackie" by her siblings. She departed this life suddenly on August 20, 2022. Jackie was united in holy matrimony to her high school sweetheart, the late Raymond Moore, Sr. on February 3, 1953. They were married for 41 years and to their union, six children were born~ three girls and three boys. Jackie accepted Christ and was baptized at a early age at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Meridian, MS by the late Rev. J.T. Flynn. She later became a dedicated member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully as an usher and secretary of the Usher board. She also served as a deaconess and as a member of the Singleton-Gates Circle. She was an out standing baker at Jeff Anderson Hospital Cafeteria where she was recognized for her 36 years of loyalty and dedicated service. Although she retired in June, 2006, you could still find her in the kitchen cooking and baking all of her favorite cakes. "Mudear", as we fondly called her, was a caring mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Everyone who knew her can attest to fact that she was a sweet and loving mother who was always there when you needed her. She was one that had many friends and was a well loved member of the community. Mudear loved everyone and when someone came to visit, she would always offer them something to eat. She exemplified Matthew 25:35: "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in ... " Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Raymond Sr., and her eldest daughter, Emma Jean, Jackie leaves to cherish and rejoice in her pleasant memory: two daughters, Gwendolyn Curtis and Ruth Moore, Meridian, MS; three sons Raymond Moore, Jr. and Cordell Moore, Detroit, MI; and Bobby (Cheryl) Moore, Oscoda, MI; a devoted son-in-law, Oscar Williams, Detroit MI,; a daughter-in-law, Denise Moore, Toledo, OH; one brother-in-law, Kenneth Moore, Jackson, MS; two sisters-in-law, Elise Glover, Warner Robbins, GA, and Legurtha Drake, Meridian, MS; five special friends, Callie & Buddy Hill, Vickye Robbins, Eva P. Young, and Gracie Herlong; one grandson raised as a son, Rev. Tory Moore; 28 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
