Ms. Corine Nichols' Obituary
Corine Nichols, affectionately known as "Dollbaby," was born in Enterprise, Mississippi on February 14,
1933. Her parents, Clarence (Papa) and Cora (Big Mama) Nichols, preceded her in death. She grew up with eight siblings; five of them preceded her in death: Eddie Lee, Minnie Lee, Eugene, Louise, and Joe.
Corine relocated to Chicago and met William Lloyd and soon after, gave birth to Ruthy Corine (Warren) and her now deceased son, Wilbert Leon. After William's death, she met Walter Blanks (who preceded her in death and to this union, four children were born: Dorothy Jean, Lolita, John Edward, and Kathleen (John). She was also blessed to have as a bonus daughter, her niece, leece Johnson.
Corine accepted Christ into her life and instilled her beliefs into her children-taking them to church every Sunday, many times staying for the evening service. One memory that will forever remain with her adult children, is the lunch she would treat them to at the Goldblatts Department Store cafeteria on the West side of Chicago.
For several years, she worked in Niles, IL at Ideal Laundry and was eventually promoted to supervisor. Dollbaby enjoyed quilting, making jewelry with beads, and endless moments of uncontrollable laughter with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and closet K-9 companions, "Storm and Bella." She was also known for baking the best banana pudding! Her grandchildren lovingly referred to her as "Grandma Moochie."
Two of her grandsons, Kane and Duke, preceded her in death, and great grandson Zyaire (Zy) also preceded her in death. She was blessed to share many moments of laughter and love with these three precious grands.
Dollbaby leaves to cherish her precious memories with sisters: Mary of Indiana, Geraldine, of Illinois, and Minnie, of Tennessee; 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was blessed to have in her life, Serita and Marcy of Illinois who were like daughters to her, and dear friends Karen Arnold, The McCraneys, Karla Cooper, and Ernest and Roberta, each of whom she would meet when she relocated to Milton, FL.
