Mrs. Daisy Christian's Obituary
Daisy L. Jernigan Christian's wonderful journey of life began on November 29, 1937 when she was born to the late Leonard and Rosie Jernigan in Toomsuba, MS. Her family moved to Chattanooga, TN where she spent her teenage years and they later moved back to MS and resided in Meridian. She was the youngest of all her brothers and sisters.
She gave her life to Christ at an early age and was a dedicated member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church where she was a faithful member serving on the Usher Board, as a Sunday School Teacher and a Choir Member, often opening the service with congregational songs as well as many years opening the church doors for Sunday Service. She served faithfully until her health failed. Daisy united in Holy Matrimony to Henderson Christian. She was known for being a hard-working gardener harvesting a garden every year.
On Friday, September 6, 2019 at the Oaks Rehabilitation Center in Meridian MS, her journey of life ended, and Daisy transitioned to a peaceful place and gained her wings. She is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Rosie Jernigan; one son, James W. Martin; her siblings, Clara Coleman, Carrie C. Jackson, John Friday, Robert Cooper, Calvin Cooper, Jr., Nellie B, Annie B, and Johnny Lee.
Cherishing her memories are: her four children, Frankie (Demetris) Haynes, Dorothy Christian-Wilson, Wilson (Kimberly) Christian and Thomas L. Christian; her daughter ~n law, Bernice Martin; her loving sister, Kizzie B. West, all of Meridian, MS; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
