“Jones Electric, Darryl Speaking!” That’s what Mr. Darryl would say every time we called his phone! He was such a blessing to my family, both families. He was one of my late husbands best friends/brother. He was our electrician, plumber, ac repair man, hangout partner, Robert fishing and hunting buddy, taught our son how to ride a bike after his dad died, helped me move to the coast, fixed ANYTHING I needed….. HE WAS SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT!! He was FAMILY, he wasn’t blood but he was FAMILY!! Even with my new family, he’d come and stay some weeks and just hangout and repair whatever was broken around here. He was so funny and always a joy to be around! My children loved him and he loved all of us! He went to my daughters graduation with us after her dad died. He kept a picture of my son in his living room and he’d show me every time I came to visit. He knew we were his family!! But, he loved his blood family so much too!! His mama was his entire heart, his days used to be based on what time he needed to do whatever he had to do for his mama!! He loved and talked about his sisters and his brother all the time. He always talked about how smart his children were and all their accomplishments and how much he loved them. He used to cook chitterlings on thanksgiving and always talked about how good his and his sisters food was! Mr Darryl took great care of his mama and really he took care of all of us and NEVER once said no when I needed him! He was like my big brother, like my baby uncle! He taught me a lot about people and he gave his help and time unselfishly. Even people that he knew talked about him. He still showed love and helped them with anything they needed from him. He was a simple man, a proud man…. He loved and honored his military background and he was proud that he served his country!! We would ride around Meridian sometimes and he’d show me all the places where he’d done impeccable electric work! He was great at his craft and knew a little bit about everything! I can’t believe you’re gone! I love you and I miss you, Brother….
